It's final at Shea, Mets 6, Marlins 3.
Ollie gets the W (Coop must be real happy). 5.2 innings, 10 k's, 3 walks, 3 runs, only 1 earned (Wright made an error on a line drive in the 6th, allowing 2 runs to score). Ollie pitched well, but threw 98 pitches, 58 for strikes. Two of the walks came in the sixth, and one of the runners scored. All and all, a good outing by Ollie. Gave up a run in the first, but, like Pelfrey last night, settled down. Wright should have had the liner based on comments I read on Metsgeek.
Joe Smith with 1.2 innings of relief, coming in with two on to replace Ollie, and get out of it. He pitched a scoreless 7th, in the 8th, he hit Boone, walked Uggla, and was relieved by The Show, who got a great diving grab by Reyes on a liner, and Jose was able to double up Boone on 2nd.
Wags gave up a one out single, but got the save.
The bats are warming up a little, but still leaving guys on base, 13 in this game. Delgado was the only starter to not have a hit (Ollie had 2, and scored both times), but did walk 3 times. Wright went 2-5, with 1 RBI. Endy, hitting 2nd, drove in 2. Jose Jose Jose went 1-4 with a walk, scored twice and drove in a run.
So, after a couple of downer days against SUCK ME (thanks Toasty) pitchers, the Mets hit Anibel Sanchez well, 7 hits against him with 3 runs, 11 hits in all. The other 3 runs came against former Met farmhand Matt Lindstrom.
On to Arizona, which has been good for the Mets the last couple of years. Let's extend that streak, shall we?
